Inflatable Restraint Front End Sensor Replacement

Inflatable Restraint Front End Sensor Replacement

Callout Component Name
CAUTION: Do not strike or jolt the inflatable restraint front end sensor. Before applying power to the front end sensor make sure that it is securely fastened. Failure to observe the correct installation procedure could cause SIR deployment, personal injury or unnecessary SIR system repairs.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
Fastener Tightening Specifications:  Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 1 .
  2. Remove the front fascia. Refer to Fascia Replacement - Front Bumper (Buick) or Fascia Replacement - Front Bumper (Chevrolet) or Fascia Replacement - Front Bumper (Pontiac) .
1 Bolts, Front End Inflatable Restraint Discriminating Sensor (Qty: 2)

Tighten:  9 N.m (80 lb in)

2 Sensor, Front End Inflatable Restraint Discriminating
Tip: 
  • Disconnect the electrical connector.
  • Remove the orange connector position assurance (CPA) from the yellow sensor harness connector.
