Removal Procedure

    NOTE: Refer to Fuel Pressure Notice .
  1. Relieve the fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  2. CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution .
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4. Drain the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Draining .
  5. Disconnect the fuel pump connector.

  7. Remove the rear exhaust pipe. Refer to Muffler Replacement (Gasoline Engine Front) or Muffler Replacement (Gasoline Engine Rear) or Muffler Replacement (Diesel Engine) .

  9. Remove the fuel tank filler tube clamp at the fuel tank.
  10. Disconnect the fuel tank filler tube.
  11. Disconnect the fuel vapor line near the fuel tank filler tube.
  12. Disconnect the fuel pump harness connector.

  14. Disconnect the fuel inlet line and the fuel return line near the right front of the fuel tank.

  16. Support the fuel tank.
  17. Remove the fuel tank strap retaining nuts.
  18. Remove the hand brake cable retaining nuts.
  19. Remove the fuel tank strap.
  20. Carefully lower the fuel tank.
  21. Remove the fuel tank.
  22. Transfer any parts as needed.
