Circuit/System Testing

    IMPORTANT: If the KS lead is damaged in any way, replace the KS.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the KS.
  2. Ignition ON, connect a test lamp between the signal circuit of the KS terminal 1 and ground. The test lamp should not illuminate.
    • If the test lamp illuminates, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
  3. Ignition ON, connect a test lamp between the signal circuit of the KS terminal 1 and B+. The test lamp should not illuminate.
    • If the test lamp illuminates, test the signal circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
  4. Test for 90-110K ohms between the signal circuit terminal 1 and the low reference circuit terminal 2.
    • If not within the specified range, test the circuits for an open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, replace the ECM.
  5. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the KS sensor.
