Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition ON, observe the DTC information with a scan tool. Verify that DTCs P0010, P0011, P0335, P0336, P0340, or P0341 are not set.
- Idle the engine at normal operating temperature. DTCs P0016 should not set.
- If a DTC sets, inspect for the following and repair as necessary:
- The correct installation of the camshaft sensor
- The correct installation of the crankshaft sensor
- A timing chain tensioner condition
- An incorrectly installed timing chain
- Excessive play in the timing chain
- A timing chain that jumped teeth
- A camshaft position actuator filter for being restricted or plugged
- A mechanical cam actuator that is stuck
- Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC to verify the DTC does not reset. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.
