Airbag Instrument Panel Module Replacement

Refer to SIR Warning .

CAUTION:

The connector at the component cannot be disconnected or removed without damage to the component. If the connector is removed, the entire component with jumper harness must be replaced.

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the instrument panel trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement (Acadia w/RPO UV6)Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement (Acadia w/o RPO UV6)Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement (Enclave)Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement (Traverse) .
1 Airbag Instrument Panel Module

Procedure

  1. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Module Handling and Scrapping .
  2. Insert a wood straight edge, one per side behind all locking tabs, to simultaneously release the instrument panel airbag housing from the instrument panel chute without overextending the airbag locking tabs. Use a wood straight edge that is approximately 50.8 cm (20 in) long and 5 mm (0.20 in) thick with a rounded edge.
  3. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
