Brake Pad

Using a vernier caliper measure and record the distance from the friction surface of the brake rotor (1) to the outer edge of the inner brake pad backing plate (2).


Replace the brake pad if:

Either reading is 10 mm or less (this equates to 3 mm lining material remaining on the brake pad).

If there is more than 2 mm variation between the inner and outer brake pad. This may be caused by the caliper binding.
