Removal Procedure

    WARNING:

    Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning .

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (LS7 or LS9) , Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (LS3) .
  2. WARNING:

    To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.

  3. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  4. Remove the starter. Refer to Starter Replacement .
  5. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.

    NOTE:

    Clean the area around the CKP before removal in order to avoid debris from entering the engine.

  7. Remove the CKP sensor retaining bolt.
  8. Remove the CKP sensor.
