Installation Procedure

  1. Install the steering column spring guide (1) into the steering column tilt spring (2).

  2. Perform the following steps to install the steering column tilt spring (1):
    1. Install the steering column tilt spring (1) to the post on the steering column support assembly (2).
    2. Secure the steering column tilt spring (1) with locking pliers.
    3. Push the guide end of the steering column tilt spring (1) onto the post on the steering column tilt head assembly.
    4. Push the steering column tilt spring (1) into position.
  3. Install the upper and lower steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement (Manual) , Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement (Telescoping) .
  4. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
