Removal Procedure

  1. If equipped, remove the battery cover. Refer to Battery Cover Replacement .
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (without Start/Stop System) .
  3. Fig 1: ECM Wiring Harness Plugs

  4. Disconnect the 3 wiring harness plugs (2) from the engine control module (1).
  5. Remove the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement (without Start/Stop System) .
  6. Remove the front compartment fuse block. Refer to Front Compartment Fuse Block Replacement .

  8. Remove the wiring harness ground cable nut (2) and remove the wiring harness ground cable (3).
  9. Remove the wiring harness plug (1) in top direction from the front compartment fuse block housing.
  10. Disconnect the wiring harness connection adapter plug (4).

  12. Unclip the 4 wiring harness clips (1).
  13. Disconnect the transmission wiring harness plug (2) from the transmission.
  14. Remove the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement .

  16. Disconnect the mass airflow wiring harness plug (1) and unclip the 4 wiring harness clips (2, 3).
  17. Disconnect the camshaft position actuator intake/exhaust solenoid valve wiring harness plug (6).
  18. Disconnect the 4 ignition coil wiring harness plugs (4, 5).
  19. Remove the air cleaner outlet rear duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Rear Duct Replacement .

  21. Disconnect the engine wiring harness (1) from the multiport fuel injector wiring harness plug.
  22. Disconnect the throttle body wiring harness plug (5) and the manifold absolute pressure sensor wiring harness plug (3).
  23. Unclip the wiring harness clip (4) from the intake manifold. Hang the wiring harness aside.
  24. Disconnect the fuel pump wiring harness plug (2).

  26. Unclip the 3 wiring harness clips (1) from the fuel pump cover.
  27. Disconnect the evaporative emission canister purge valve wiring harness plug (2) and the intake camshaft position sensor wiring harness plug (8).
  28. Disconnect the exhaust camshaft position sensor wiring harness plug (7).
  29. Remove the wiring harness ground cable bolt (3) and the wiring harness ground cable (4).
  30. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor wiring harness plug (5) and unclip the wiring harness (6).
  31. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  32. If equipped, remove the engine compartment insulator. Refer to Front Compartment Insulator Replacement .

  34. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor wiring harness plug (4) and unclip the 4 wiring harness clips (1, 3).
  35. Unclip the 2 wiring harness clips (1).
  36. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor wiring harness plug (2). Hang the wiring harness aside.

  38. Disconnect the generator wiring harness plug (1) and the air conditioning wiring harness plug (2).

  40. Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor wiring harness plug (5).
  41. Disconnect the engine oil pressure switch wiring harness plug (3) and the knock sensor wiring harness plug (2).
  42. Disconnect the starter wiring harness plug (6) and unclip the wiring harness clip (4).
  43. Remove the wiring harness ground cable bolt (7) and the wiring harness ground cable (1).
  44. Lower the vehicle.
  45. Remove the engine wiring harness from the vehicle.
