Removal Procedure

WARNING:

Refer to Hot Exhaust System Warning .

WARNING:

Refer to Safety Glasses Warning .

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the pinch bolt on the steering gear intermediate shaft. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement .
  3. Remove the cradle frame rear bolts and lower enough to allow clearance to remove the front pipe.

  5. Remove the front pipe exhaust fasteners (1) from the rear muffler pipe (3) and discard the exhaust gasket (2).
  6. Support the rear muffler pipe (3) with mechanics wire .

  8. Remove the fasteners (1) from the rear catalytic converter and discard the gasket (2).

  10. Remove the fasteners (1) from the front catalytic converter and discard the gasket (3).

  12. Support the rear engine cradle with a suitable jack.
  13. Loosen the rear cradle frame fasteners (1).
  14. Lower the support jack and the rear engine cradle to allow clearance to remove the exhaust front pipe.
  15. Slide out the exhaust front pipe and lower to the floor.
