Removal Procedure

Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement .
Remove the shift lever. Refer to Shift Lever Replacement .

With a screwdriver, carefully pry the automatic transmission shift lock control away from the steering column jacket.
Place the ignition lock cylinder in the OFF-LOCK position.

NOTE:

Do NOT remove the tape on the park lock cable. If the tape is removed from the park lock cable, you MUST order a new linear shift assembly.

Insert a small screwdriver into the slot on the ignition lock cylinder case and push against the locking tab to remove the park lock cable (1).

NOTE:

It may be necessary to move the linear shift assembly out of park to access the lower linear shift assembly bolt.
