Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement .
  2. Remove the shift lever. Refer to Shift Lever Replacement .

  4. With a screwdriver, carefully pry the automatic transmission shift lock control away from the steering column jacket.
  5. Place the ignition lock cylinder in the OFF-LOCK position.

    NOTE:

    Do NOT remove the tape on the park lock cable. If the tape is removed from the park lock cable, you MUST order a new linear shift assembly.

  7. Insert a small screwdriver into the slot on the ignition lock cylinder case and push against the locking tab to remove the park lock cable (1).

    NOTE:

    It may be necessary to move the linear shift assembly out of park to access the lower linear shift assembly bolt.

  9. Remove the linear shift assembly bolts.
  10. Remove the linear shift assembly.
