K20 Engine Control Module: Scan Tool Information (LEB)

Accelerator Pedal Position When Engine Overspeed Detected - 0% This parameter displays the angle of accelerator pedal position as calculated by the control module using the signals from the APP sensors when an engine overspeed condition is detected.
Ambient Air Temperature - Varies with outside temperature This parameter displays the outside temperature.
APP Sensor 1 - 1.02 V This parameter displays the voltage of the APP sensor 1 signal circuit as measured by the control module.
APP Sensor 2 - 0.51 V This parameter displays the voltage of the APP sensor 2 signal circuit as measured by the control module.
BARO - 0-5 V - Varies with altitude This parameter displays the barometric pressure in voltage. The control module uses the barometric pressure sensor input for fuel control to compensate for altitude differences.
- 65-104 kPa (8-16 PSI) Varies with altitude This parameter displays the barometric pressure. The control module uses the barometric pressure sensor input for fuel control to compensate for altitude differences.
Boost Pressure Sensor - 82-110 kPa (12-16 PSI) This parameter displays the turbocharger boost pressure inside the engine as calculated by the control module based on the signal from the Boost pressure sensor.
- 1.45-1.75 V This parameter displays the voltage of the turbocharger boost pressure inside the engine calculated by the control module based on the signal from the Boost pressure sensor.
Brake Pedal Switch - Varies The scan tool displays reserved. This indicates that the brake pedal is in an open active switch state.
Clutch Pedal Switch - Varies The scan tool displays Inactive, Active, Reserved or Invalid. This is the current minimum travel switch state of the clutch pedal.
Cooling Fan Relay 1 Command, Cooling Fan Relay 2 Command Fans Commanded ON Active This parameter displays the control module commanded state of the fan relay control circuits.
Cruise Control Disengage History 1-8 Cruise Control ON Reason for Cruise Disengagement The parameter displays the last 8 cruise control disengages in order from 1-8, with 8 being the most recent. There are approximately 40 possible causes for the cruise control to disengage.
Cruise Control On/Off Switch Cruise Control ON ON/OFF The engine control module (ECM) monitors the signal circuit of the cruise control switch. A closed switch is displayed as ON.
Cruise Control Resume Switch Cruise Control ON Active/ Inactive/ Invalid The scan tool displays ON, when the cruise ON/OFF switch is ON and the resume switch is pressed, the ECM detects a predetermined voltage value for the resume switch.
Cruise Control Set Switch Cruise Control ON Active/ Inactive The scan tool displays ON, when the cruise ON/OFF switch is ON and the ECM detects a predetermined voltage value for the set switch.
Current Gear When Engine Overspeed Detected - 1-5, Neutral, Reverse, Park, Invalid, Fail-Safe Mode The parameter displays the current gear when an engine overspeed condition is detected
Cylinder 1 Balancing Rate, Cylinder 2 Balancing Rate, Cylinder 3 Balancing Rate, Cylinder 4 Balancing Rate - Varies This parameter displays the difference of fuel injection mass of each cylinder
Desired Air Flow - 4-8 g/s This parameter displays the desired air flow of the engine as calculated by the control module based on the signal from the Mass Air Flow Sensor.
Desired Boost Pressure - 98 kPa (14.2 PSI) This parameter displays the desired turbocharger boost pressure inside the engine as calculated by the control module based on the signal from the Boost pressure sensor.
Desired EGR Position - 0-100% This parameter displays the desired exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) position as calculated by the control module based on the signal from the EGR position sensor.
Desired Fuel Rail Pressure - 20.00-45.00 MPa (2 900-6 527 PSI) This parameter displays the desired fuel rail pressure as calculated by the control module. This value is calculated based on engine speed, engine load and sensor inputs.
Desired Idle Speed - 700-80 RPM This parameter displays the desired engine idle speed as commanded by the control module.
Distance Since DTC Cleared - Varies This parameter displays the distance that has elapsed since the last DTC was cleared.
Distance Since First Malfunction Ignition ON 0 km/h (0 MPH) This parameter displays in kilometers or miles the distance traveled since a Malfunction occurred.
Distance Since Last Malfunction - Varies This parameter displays the distance accumulated when the emission diagnostic trouble code last failed.
ECT Sensor - -39 to +140°C (-38 to +284°F) This parameter displays the temperature of the engine coolant based on input to the control module from the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor.
- 0-5 V This parameter displays the voltage calculated by the control module from the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor.
EGR Position Sensor - Varies The scan tool displays %. This is the current EGR valve position.
- Varies The scan tool displays Volts. This is the current EGR valve position sensor voltage.
EGR Position Variance - Varies The scan tool displays %. This is the current EGR valve position.
Engine Controls Ignition Relay Feedback Signal - 11-14.5 V This parameter displays the actual battery voltage.
Engine Load - Varies This parameter displays the actual battery voltage.
Engine Oil Life Remaining - Varies This parameter displays the remaining oil life.
Engine Oil Level Switch - OK This parameter displays the status of the engine oil level switch as determined by the control module. The control module uses this information to turn on the low engine oil lamp if the engine oil level remains approximately 1.5 l low for a sufficient amount of time.
Engine Oil Pressure Switch - OK This parameter displays the pressure of the engine oil calculated by the control module using a signal from the engine oil pressure sensor.
Engine Oil Temperature When Engine Overspeed Detected - Varies This parameter displays the temperature of the engine oil if overspeed detected.
Engine Overspeed - Not Present This parameter displays the status if overspeed detected.
Engine Overspeed Counter - Varies This parameter displays the status if overspeed detected.
Engine Run Time - Increments when the engine is operating This parameter displays the time elapsed since the engine was started.
Engine Speed Engine Cranking Greater than 60 RPM This parameter displays the speed of the engine crankshaft rotation from information received from the crankshaft position sensor. If there is a crankshaft position sensor DTC, the ECM calculates the engine speed from the camshaft position sensor.
Engine Idling Approximately 750-85 RPM
Engine Speed When Engine Overspeed Detected - Varies This parameter displays the speed of the engine crankshaft rotation stored if an engine overspeed is detected.
Engine Start Counter - Varies This parameter displays the quantity of engine starts.
Fuel Level Sensor - Varies This parameter displays the voltage from the sensor used to monitor the fuel level inside the fuel tank. The scan tool will display a low voltage reading when that the fuel level in the tank is low or near empty. The scan tool will display a high voltage reading when the fuel level in the tank is high or near full.
Fuel Pressure Regulator 1 Command - Varies This parameter displays the control modules commanded state of the fuel rail pressure regulator 1.
Fuel Pressure Regulator 1 - 1 300-1 400 mA This parameter displays the control modules commanded state of the fuel rail pressure regulator 1.
Fuel Pump Relay Command Ignition ON, engine OFF Fuel pump on for 2 s This parameter displays the control modules commanded state of the fuel pump relay control circuit.

Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor - 20.00-45.00 MPa (2 900-6 527 PSI) This parameter displays the fuel rail pressure calculated by the control module using the signal from the fuel rail pressure sensor.
- 1.40-1.50 V This parameter displays the voltage of the fuel rail pressure calculated by the control module using the signal from the fuel rail pressure sensor.
Fuel Temperature Sensor - 25-40°C (77-104°F) This parameter displays the fuel temperature calculated by the control module based on input from the fuel temperature sensor.
- 2.80 V This parameter displays the voltage calculated by the control module based on input from the fuel temperature sensor.
Generator F-Terminal Signal - 25-35% This parameter displays the commanded state of the generator by the control module.
Glow Plug Command - Inactive This parameter displays the control module commanded state of the glow plug.
IAT Sensor 1 - -39 to +140°C (-38 to +284°F) This parameter displays the temperature of the air entering the engine air duct calculated by the control module based on the input from the intake air temperature sensors.
- 0-5 V This parameter displays the voltage of the air entering the engine air duct calculated by the control module based on the input from the intake air temperature sensors.
IAT Sensor 2 - -39 to +140°C (-38 to +284°F) This parameter displays the temperature of the air entering the engine air duct after the turbocharger calculated by the control module based on the input from the intake air temperature sensors.
- 0-5 V This parameter displays the voltage of the air entering the engine air duct after the turbocharger calculated by the control module based on the input from the intake air temperature sensors.
Ignition Switch Status - Active This parameter displays the voltage measured at the ignition 1 circuit of the control module. Voltage is applied to the control module when the ignition switch is in the ignition 1 position.
Intake Air Flow Valve Position - Varies This parameter displays the percent of the position of the intake air flow valve.
Intake Air Flow Valve Position Sensor - Varies This parameter displays the voltage of the position of the intake air flow valve.
MAF Sensor - 4-8 g/s This parameter displays the air flow of the engine as calculated by the control module based on the signal from the Mass Air Flow Sensor.
MAF When Engine Overspeed Detected - Varies This parameter displays the air flow of the engine as calculated by the control module based on the signal from the Mass Air Flow Sensor if a engine overspeed condition is detected.
MAP Sensor - 26-52 kPa (3.7-7.6 PSI) This parameter displays the pressure from the MAP sensor to the control module.
Maximum Engine Speed When Engine Overspeed Detected - Varies This parameter displays the maximum engine speed stored if an engine overspeed condition is detected.
Odometer When Engine Overspeed Detected - Varies This parameter displays the vehicle speed stored if an engine overspeed condition is detected.
Remaining Fuel in Tank - 0-100% This parameter displays the percentage of the actual fuel in tank.
Reverse Position Switch - Inactive This parameter displays the status of the reverse gear position switch.
System Voltage - 11.0-14.5 V This parameter displays the actual battery voltage.
TCC/Cruise Control Brake Pedal Switch - Released The ECM monitors the signal circuit of the brake pedal switch. A closed switch is displayed as Applied.
Torque Delivered Signal - Varies This parameter displays the delivered torque value as calculated by the ECM
Total Engine Overspeed Time - Varies This parameter displays the time, how long an engine overspeed condition was detected.
Total Fuel Injection Quantity Per Stroke - Varies This parameter displays the fuel amount per stroke.
Turbocharger Wastegate Solenoid Valve Command - Varies This parameter displays the percent of the control modules commanded state of the turbocharger wastegate solenoid based on the boost pressure sensor.
Vehicle Speed - 0 km/h (0 MPH) This parameter displays the speed of the vehicle as calculated by the ECM.
Vehicle Speed When Engine Overspeed Detected - Varies This parameter displays the speed of the vehicle as calculated by the ECM if an engine overspeed condition is detected.
Warm-ups Since DTC Cleared - Varies This parameter displays the number of warm starts counted by the control module since DTC cleared.
Water In Fuel Sensor - Inactive This parameter displays the commanded state of the water in fuel lamp by the control module.
Scan Tool Output Controls

Output Control Description
A/C Compressor Clutch Relay This function activates the A/C compressor relay. The normal commanded state of the A/C relay is OFF. The A/C compressor will turn ON/OFF when commanded ON/OFF. The system remains in the commanded state for approximately 5 seconds. The engine control module (ECM) will inhibit the operation of the A/C relay when the ambient air temperature is low.
APP Learn This device control is used to trigger the procedure to learn the accelerator pedal position.
Cooling Fan Relay 1 Cooling Fan Speed Enable; Cooling Fan Speed
Cooling Fan Relay 2 Cooling Fan Speed Enable; Cooling Fan Speed
Crankshaft Position Reluctor Wheel Learn This device control is used to trigger the procedure to learn the Crankshaft Position Reluctor Wheel.
Cylinder Power Balance Fuel Injector Enable; Fuel Injector ON
EGR Cooler Bypass Valve EGR Cooler Bypass Valve Enable, EGR Cooler Bypass Valve ON
EGR Valve This function opens or closes the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) solenoid. The EGR solenoid increases or decreases in 10 percent increments. The device control will not change unless changed or cancelled by the scan tool.
EGR Valve Learn This device control is used to trigger the procedure to learn the EGR Valve.
Engine Oil Life Reset This function is used to reset the engine oil life. The engine oil remaining life is determined from engine revolutions and the distance driven since the last oil change.
Engine Speed This function adjusts the engine speed in 25, 100 or 500 RPM increments between 600-1 500 RPM. The Device Control will not change unless changed or cancelled by the scan tool.
Flywheel Learn This device control is used to trigger the procedure to learn the Flywheel.
Fuel Injector Balance
NOTE:

This function is only allowed with the engine idling.

This function controls the fuel balance of the injectors. When commanded OFF the normal fuel differences is present. When commanded ON the cylinder specific RPM is displayed.
Fuel Injector Learn This device control is used to trigger the procedure to learn the Fuel Injector.
Fuel Pump Relay This function activates the pump ON or OFF. The Device Control will not change unless changed or cancelled by the scan tool.
Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor or Fuel Rail Learn This device control is used to trigger the procedure to learn the fuel rail pressure sensor
Generator L-Terminal This function controls the system voltage. When commanded ON, normal system voltage output is present. When commanded OFF, system voltage output is no longer present, Ignition 1 signal continues to drop, Generator L-Terminal goes to OFF and Generator F-Terminal continues to drop.
Glow Plug Module Reset This device control is used to trigger the procedure to reset the glow plug module.
Glow Plugs This function activates the Glow Plug Controller ON or OFF. The Device Control will be aborted after 12 seconds for the first activation and after 5 seconds for every other activation. The Device Control is inhibited if the engine is running.
Idle Learn This function is used to reset the learned airflow adaptive values to the initial values. The scan tool initiates the test when the following conditions are met:
  • The vehicle speed is 0 km/h (0 MPH).
  • In the correct power mode.
  • There are no throttle actuator control system DTCs set.
Injector Flow Rate Programming This device control is used to trigger the procedure to program the injector flow rate values when an injector is replaced.
Intake Air Flow Valve Learn This device control is used to trigger the procedure to reset the learned values when the intake air flow valve is replaced.
Intake Air Flow Valve Position Intake Air Flow Valve Position Command 0-100%
MAF Sensor Learn This device control is used to trigger the procedure to reset the learned values when the MAF sensor is replaced.
Turbocharger Learn This turbocharger learn is used to reset the ECM adaption parameter when the turbocharger is replaced.
Turbocharger Wastegate Solenoid Valve Turbocharger wastegate solenoid command 0-100%
