Front End Inflatable Restraint Discriminating Sensor Replacement

Refer to SIR Warning .

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the front sight shield. Refer to Front Compartment Front Sight Shield Replacement .
1 Inflatable Restraint Front End Sensor Adaptor Fastener
CAUTION:

Refer to Fastener Caution .


Tighten 
9 N.m (80 lb in)
2 Inflatable Restraint Front End Discriminating Sensor Nut
Tighten 
9 N.m (80 lb in)
3 Inflatable Restraint Front End Discriminating Sensor Bracket (Qty: 2)
4 Inflatable Restraint Front End Discriminating Sensor Assembly (Qty: 2)

Procedure

  1. Loosen the bolts and slide the sensor out of the keyhole slots.
  2. The bolts are integral to the sensor assembly and DO NOT remove separately.

Tighten 
7.5 N.m (66 lb in)
