Removal Procedure

  1. Place the ignition in the OFF position.
  2. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement .
  3. Thoroughly clean the area surrounding the electronic brake control module (EBCM) to brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) of any accumulated dirt and debris.
  4. Disconnect the EBCM electrical connector.

  6. Disconnect the left rear brake pipe fitting nut (1).
  7. Cap the brake pipe and plug the BPMV outlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
  8. Disconnect the right rear brake pipe fitting nut (2).
  9. Cap the brake pipe and plug the BPMV outlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  11. Disconnect the left front brake pipe fitting nut (1).
  12. Cap the brake pipe and plug the BPMV outlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
  13. Disconnect the right front brake pipe fitting nut (2).
  14. Cap the brake pipe and plug the BPMV outlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  16. Disconnect the master cylinder secondary brake pipe fitting nut (1).
  17. Cap the brake pipe and plug the BPMV inlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
  18. Disconnect the master cylinder primary brake pipe fitting nut (2).
  19. Cap the brake pipe and plug the BPMV inlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

    NOTE:

    It is not necessary to remove the BPMV assembly nuts.

  21. Loosen the 2 BPMV assembly nuts (1).

  23. Lift the BPMV assembly (1) straight upward and release the assembly from the BPMV bracket.

  25. Remove the EBCM bolts (1).

    NOTE:

    Do not attempt to lever or pry the components apart.

  27. Separate the EBCM (1) from the BPMV.
  28. Clean the sealing surfaces of the EBCM with denatured alcohol and allow to dry.
