Removal Procedure
- Place the ignition in the OFF position.
- Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement .
- Thoroughly clean the area surrounding the electronic brake control module (EBCM) to brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) of any accumulated dirt and debris.
- Disconnect the EBCM electrical connector.
- Disconnect the left rear brake pipe fitting nut (1).
- Cap the brake pipe and plug the BPMV outlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Disconnect the right rear brake pipe fitting nut (2).
- Cap the brake pipe and plug the BPMV outlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Disconnect the left front brake pipe fitting nut (1).
- Cap the brake pipe and plug the BPMV outlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Disconnect the right front brake pipe fitting nut (2).
- Cap the brake pipe and plug the BPMV outlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Disconnect the master cylinder secondary brake pipe fitting nut (1).
- Cap the brake pipe and plug the BPMV inlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Disconnect the master cylinder primary brake pipe fitting nut (2).
- Cap the brake pipe and plug the BPMV inlet port to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Loosen the 2 BPMV assembly nuts (1).
- Lift the BPMV assembly (1) straight upward and release the assembly from the BPMV bracket.
- Remove the EBCM bolts (1).
- Separate the EBCM (1) from the BPMV.
- Clean the sealing surfaces of the EBCM with denatured alcohol and allow to dry.
NOTE:
It is not necessary to remove the BPMV assembly nuts.
NOTE:
Do not attempt to lever or pry the components apart.
