Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Replacement

Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Replacement

Callout Component Name
WARNING:

Allow sufficient time for the engine to cool before removing the ECT sensor. A hot engine may cause an excessive coolant loss or a personal injury.

CAUTION:

Use care when handling the coolant sensor. Damage to the coolant sensor will affect the operation of the fuel control system.

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE-47716 Fill) , Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) .
  3. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor wiring harness plug.

CAUTION:

Refer to Fastener Caution .

Procedure

  1. Place a basin underneath to collect any draining coolant.
  2. Release the engine control module and hang aside.
  3. Loosen the 3 charge air cooler outlet air hose bolts from the throttle body and the charge air cooler outlet air hose bracket bolt and hang the hose aside.

Tighten 
22 N.m (16 lb ft)
