Installation Procedure

  1. Clean all sealing surfaces.
    2. Fig 1: Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve And Bolts

  2. Install the closing plate (1).
    3. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  3. Install the 4 closing plate bolts (2) and tighten in two passes:
    1. First pass to 3.5 (31 lb in).
    2. Final pass to an additional 10 (89 lb in).
  4. Install a NEW exhaust gas recirculation valve flat washer (5).
  5. Install the exhaust gas recirculation valve (3).
  6. Install the 2 exhaust gas recirculation valve bolts (4) and tighten in two passes:
    1. First pass to 6 (53 lb in).
    2. Final pass to an additional 10 (89 lb in).

  7. Position the exhaust pressure sensor pipe (5).
  8. Install the 3 exhaust pressure sensor pipe bolts (3, 6) and tighten to 9 (80 lb in).
  9. Connect the exhaust gas recirculation valve wiring harness plug.

  10. Clip in the 3 wiring harness clips (1) to the exhaust gas recirculation pipe bracket (2).
  11. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  12. Fill and bleed the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE-47716 Fill) , Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) .
  13. Install the engine sight shield. Refer to Engine Sight Shield Replacement .
