Removal Procedure

WARNING:

Refer to Exhaust Service Warning .

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the underbody front air deflector - right. Refer to Underbody Front Air Deflector Replacement - Right Side .
  3. Fig 1: Exhaust Particulate Sensor Module Wiring Harness Plug And Exhaust Particulate Sensor Module Nuts

  4. Disconnect the exhaust particulate sensor module wiring harness plug (6).
  5. Remove the 2 exhaust particulate sensor module nuts (7).
  6. Remove the exhaust particulate sensor module (1) from the bracket (2).

    NOTE:

    The taped on edge clip MUST BE replaced with a NEW clip whenever it is removed from the floor panel tunnel, even if no sensors are replaced.

  8. Remove the push nut tie clip (1) from the stud protruding from the exhaust heat shield.
  9. Disconnect the 2 tie-strap clips (2, 3) from the brake lines and the taped on edge clip from the floor panel tunnel.
  10. Use a marker to mark location of the 2 tie-strap clips and the taped on edge clip on both the exhaust particulate sensor wire and on the NOX sensor wire.
  11. Remove the 3 clips from the wires to separate the 2 sensors - DO NOT REMOVE the push nut tie clip from the NOX sensor wire.

  13. Loosen the exhaust particulate sensor wiring harness from the wiring harness clip (1) and the mount wire tie clip (2).
  14. Remove the exhaust particulate sensor (4) from the exhaust pipe, use a suitable tool.
