Installation Procedure

  1. On the removed NOX sensor, measure distances from the start of the wire at the sensor probe to all 4 marked locations where clips were installed.
  2. On the new NOX sensor to be installed, use distances measured above to mark the sensor wire for the locations of the 4 new clips that will be installed.
  3. Coat the exhaust pipe thread (3) with assembly paste. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants and Sealers .
  4. Ensure that the sensor threads are coated with anti seize compound prior to installation. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants and Sealers .
  5. Install nitrogen oxide sensor (4) into the exhaust pipe and tighten it to 50 (37 lb ft), using a suitable tool.
  6. Fix the nitrogen oxide sensor wiring harness to the wiring harness clip (1) and the mount wire tie clip (2).

  8. Install 2 NEW tie-strap clips (2, 3) and a NEW taped on edge clip (1) at the marked locations, to rejoin the two sensor wires.
  9. Install a NEW push nut tie clip to the new NOX sensor wire at the marked location.
  10. Install the 2 tie-strap clips to the brake lines and the taped on edge clip to the floor panel tunnel edge.
  11. Install the push nut tie clip to the NOX sensor wire to the stud (4) protruding from the exhaust heat shield.

  13. Install the nitrogen oxide sensor module (3) to the bracket (2).
  14. Install the 2 nitrogen oxide sensor module nuts (4) and tighten to 9 (80 lb in).
  15. Connect the nitrogen oxide sensor wiring harness plug (5) to the nitrogen oxide sensor module (3).
  16. Install the underbody front air deflector - right. Refer to Underbody Front Air Deflector Replacement - Right Side .
  17. Lower the vehicle.
