Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement .
    2. Fig 1: Fuel Feed Pipe And Fuel Tank Vent Pipe

  2. Disconnect the fuel feed pipe (1), the fuel tank vent pipe (2) and the evaporative emission canister vent pipe (3) from the fuel tank fuel pump module.
  3. Disconnect the fuel tank fuel pump module wiring harness (4) from the fuel tank fuel pump module.
  4. Close the fuel feed pipe and the fuel tank vent feed pipe with suitable caps.
    5. NOTE:

    Do NOT use impact tools. Significant force will be required to release the lock ring. The use of a hammer and screwdriver is not recommended. Secure the fuel tank in order to prevent fuel tank rotation.

  5. Using the EN-48279  wrench and a long breaker-bar, rotate the fuel pump module lock ring in a counterclockwise direction in order to unlock the lock ring.

  6. Remove fuel tank fuel pump module lock ring (1).
    7. NOTE:

    Lift the fuel tank fuel pump module up slightly.

  7. Remove the fuel tank fuel pump module (2).
  8. Disconnect the fuel tank vent connection (3, 5).
  9. Remove and DISCARD the fuel pump module seal (4).
  10. Remove the fuel level sensor from the fuel tank fuel pump module. Refer to Fuel Level Sensor Replacement .
