DIAGNOSTIC TIPS FOR UNABLE TO ALIGN RADAR DURING DISTANCE SENSING CRUISE CONTROL MODULE LEARN PROCEDURE
TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN
| AFFECTED MODEL(S): | 2014-2015 Buick LaCrosse, Regal, Cadillac ELR, Chevrolet Impala (VIN 1), Vauxhall Insignia; 2015 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Yukon Models; Equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control (RPOs K59, KSG, K38) |
CONDITION/CONCERN
During the distance sensing cruise control module learn procedure, the Service Adaptive Cruise Control message and the Vehicle Ahead indicator will start to flash indicating that the radar is in the alignment mode and collecting data. The Service Adaptive Cruise Control message and the Vehicle Ahead indicator will stop flashing indicating that the radar has completed the alignment process. The Automatic Alignment Learn Progress parameter may not have moved from 0% or did not reach 100%. As indicated in Service Information (SI) to use for verification the learn procedure has completed.
The Automatic Alignment Learn Progress parameter does not update during the learn procedure and does not give an accurate reading to be monitored. Please disregard this parameter during the learn procedure and in the future this parameter will be removed. The Alignment Learn Status does not update to "Fail" state and will always read "Successful" even if the learn procedure has failed. These parameters may mislead a technician to believe the learn procedure did not complete and will attempt to perform the learn procedure again.
While during the learn procedure, if the scan tool becomes disconnected, leaves the procedure or any other button is pressed before the procedure is completed, the radar will not be aligned correctly. Only the reprogramming of the K14 Distance Sensing Cruise Control Module will reset the alignment of the radar and the distance sensing cruise control module learn procedure must be performed again.
RECOMMENDATION/INSTRUCTIONS
Only use the Service Adaptive Cruise Control message and the Vehicle Ahead indicator to verify if the procedure is complete.
Once the learn procedure is complete, drive the vehicle at speeds greater than 40 km/h (25mph) and verify engagement of the adaptive cruise control system. Refer to the owner's manual for instructions on how to engage the adaptive cruise control system.
