Removal Procedure

  1. Prepare the engine control module for replacement. Refer to Control Module References .
  2. Open the hood.
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  4. Remove the engine sight shield. Refer to Engine Sight Shield Replacement .
  5. Unclip the 2 wiring harness clips (2) from the bracket.

    CAUTION: In order to prevent any possible electrostatic discharge damage to the ECM, do not touch the connector pins.
  6. Unlock the 2 wiring harness plugs (1) from the engine control module and hang it aside.
  7. Remove the engine control module (1).

    • Unlock the holding clip (2) use a screwdriver.
    • Remove the engine control module (1) out of the bracket.
  8. Remove the engine control module insulator (1) from the engine control module bracket (2) in arrow direction.

    Unclip the retainer with a screwdriver.

  9. Remove the engine control module (1) from the engine control module bracket in arrow direction.

    Unclip the retainer (2) with a screwdriver.
