Installation Procedure

  1. Position the steering gear (2) on the drivetrain and front suspension frame.

  2. Install the steering gear bolts (1) and tighten to 110 N.m (81 lb ft).
    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  3. Raise the drivetrain and front suspension frame into position. Refer to Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Replacement .
  4. Connect the lower conduit retainer bracket from the drivetrain and front suspension frame and connect the upper conduit retainer bracket to the drivetrain front and electronic system power supply module frame. Refer to 300-Volt Battery Positive and Negative Cable Replacement (Drive Motor Generator Power Inverter Module to Drive Motor Battery) and 300-Volt Battery Positive and Negative Cable Replacement (Drive Motor Generator Power Inverter Module to High Voltage Battery Disconnect Module) .
  5. Install the drivetrain and front suspension frame stabilizer brackets. Refer to Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Stabilizer Bracket Replacement .
  6. Tighten the front drivetrain and front suspension frame bolts. Refer to Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Replacement .
  7. Remove the hydraulic jack and adjustable jackstands.
  8. Install the rear transmission mount strut to frame bolts. Refer to Transmission Mount Strut Replacement - Rear .
  9. Connect the transmission fluid pump motor cable connector. Refer to Transmission Fluid Pump Replacement .
  10. Connect the steering linkage outer tie rods to the steering knuckles. Refer to Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement .
  11. Connect the stabilizer shaft links to the strut assemblies. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement .
  12. Install the front, middle and rear portions of the front compartment splash shield. Refer to Front Compartment Splash Shield Replacement (Front) , Front Compartment Splash Shield Replacement (Middle) and Front Compartment Splash Shield Replacement (Rear) .
  13. Install the front compartment air deflector. Refer to Front Compartment Air Deflector Replacement .
  14. Install the front tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  15. Install the intermediate steering shaft inner boot. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Inner Boot Replacement .
  16. Connect the intermediate steering shaft to the steering gear. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement .
  17. Unlock the steering column.
  18. Enable the high voltage system. Refer to High Voltage Enabling .
  19. Measure and adjust the front toe. Refer to Wheel Alignment - Steering Wheel Angle and/or Front Toe Adjustment .
  20. Center the steering angle sensor. Refer to Steering Angle Sensor Centering .
