Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  2. Drain the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Draining 
  3. Relieve the fuel pressure: Fuel Pressure Relief 
  4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
  5. Exhaust System (1)» Remove - Exhaust System Replacement

    NOTE: Do not cut the exhaust system.
  6. Fuel Tank Heat Shield (1)» Remove - Fuel Tank Heat Shield Replacement

  7. Parking Brake Cable Nut (3)» Remove [2x]

  8. Parking Brake Cable (2) @ Retainer (4)» Remove [2x]
  9. Parking Brake Cable (2) @ Parking Brake Cable Bracket (1)» Remove
  10. Hang both parking brake cables aside.
  11. Fuel Feed Pipe - Underbody (1)» Disconnect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .

  12. Disconnect the evaporative emission canister front pipe (1). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service 
  13. Close all connections with EN-6015  plugs.
  14. Evaporative Emission Canister Filter Pipe (2) @ Evaporative Emission Canister (1)» Disconnect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service

  15. Evaporative Emission Canister Filter Pipe (2)» Position aside
  16. Disconnect the electrical connector. (1)

  17. Support the fuel tank with a suitable jack. (3)

  18. Fuel Tank Strap Bolt (4)» Remove [4x]
  19. Fuel Tank Strap (2)» Remove [2x]
  20. Remove the fuel tank (1) by retracting the jack (3).
  21. Remove the fuel tank (1) from the jack (3).
    NOTE: A second technician is required.
