Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2015 GMC Yukon XL, 2015 GMC Yukon, 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2015 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2015 Cadillac Escalade ESV. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Inspect the brake caliper guide pins and seals for damage and/or corrosion. Refer to Front Disc Brake Mounting and Hardware Inspection .
- Install the brake caliper guide pin seals (1).
- Apply a thin coat of high temperature silicone brake lubricant the brake caliper guide pins.
- Install the brake caliper guide pins (1) to the brake caliper bracket and guide pin seals.
- Ensure the guide pin seal is fully seated in the groove of the brake caliper guide pin.
- Ensure the guide pin seal is fully seated in the groove of the brake caliper bracket.
- Gently pull the edge of the upper guide pin seal (1) away from the brake caliper guide pin (2) while simultaneously pushing the brake caliper guide pin into the brake caliper bracket to expel any trapped air and excess brake lubricant.
- Repeat step 7 for the lower guide pin seal and brake caliper guide pin.
- With a clean shop towel, clean any excess brake lubricant from the guide pin seal and brake caliper guide pin.
- Install the brake caliper to the caliper bracket.
- Using a backup wrench on the brake caliper guide pins, install the brake caliper guide pin bolts (1) and tighten to 100 N.m (74 lb ft).
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (6-Lug Wheel) .
NOTE:
Excess brake lubricant and trapped air must be expelled from the brake caliper guide pin bore to allow full caliper movement and prevent premature brake pad wear.
