Programming Manually
This procedure will NOT erase existing transmitters. Transmitters are attached to keys but are recognized independent from the key, therefore transmitters may still function even if a key has been erased from a vehicle.
Transmitters can be programmed using the procedure outlined below. Using the procedure will not erase known transmitters from the vehicle. The body control module (BCM) contains the transmitter information and if it is replaced the key learn procedure must be performed followed by this procedure to program the transmitters. Up to four total transmitters can be learned to the vehicle. If any additional transmitters are added they will be ignored and only the first four will be saved.
- A total of four transmitters may be learned to a single vehicle.
- If the battery voltage is low, charge the battery before continuing with the procedure.
- While seated in the vehicle with the doors closed, lock all the doors by performing the door lock operation on the driver door.
- Insert and remove the key from the ignition cylinder six times within 10 s. The vehicle hazard warning lamps and indicators will flash once after the sixth insertion.NOTE:
The key should be fully withdrawn from the ignition cylinder each time.
- On the sixth insertion of the key, leave the key in the ignition and turn the ignition to the ACC position.
- Press the any button on the transmitter once. The vehicle hazard warning lamps and indicators will flash.
- After programming is completed remove the key from the ignition, unlock the vehicle using the unlock button on the driver door, exit the vehicle and close the door.
- Verify all buttons on each transmitter works properly.
