Installation Procedure

  1. GM4675043

    Lubricate the valve lifter follower (1) with engine oil.

    2. NOTE:

    The valve lifter follower (1) must be used in conjunction with the gauge (2) to fine the base circle of the camshaft.

  2. Install valve lifter follower (1) into the head bore aligning the guide pins with the grooves in the fuel pump head bore prior to installing the gauge.
  3. Install the EN-51365  gauge (2).
  4. With help of an assistant rotate the crankshaft until the EN-51365  gauge (2) is flush with the cylinder head. This indicates the camshaft lobe is at the base circle position.
  5. Remove the EN-51365  gauge (2).
  6. Valve Lifter Follower(1) - Remove
  7. GM3824668

    Lubricate the valve lifter follower (1) with engine oil.

  8. Install valve lifter follower (1) into the head bore aligning the guide pins with the grooves in the fuel pump head bore..
  9. Fuel Pump Seal(2) - Install a NEW seal.
  10. Fuel Pump(3) - Install
    11. CAUTION:

    Component Fastener Tightening Caution

  11. Install the 2 fuel pump bolts (4) alternating in steps of 1/2 turn.
  12. Fuel Pump Bolt(4) - Tighten[2x] 25 N.m (18 lb ft)
  13. GM4230926

    Remove the EN-6015  plugs from all connections.

  14. Fuel Feed Front Pipe(1)@Fuel Pump(2) - Connect - Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service 
  15. GM3824664

    Fuel Pump Insulator(3)@Fuel Pump(1) - Install

  16. Connect the electrical connector.(2)
  17. GM4675039

    Engine Wiring Harness Bracket - (2)Install

  18. Engine Wiring Harness Bracket Bolt(1) - Install and tighten[2x] 9 N.m (80 lb in)
  19. Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe - Install - Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe Replacement - High Pressure 
  20. GM4674501

    Engine Wiring Harness(3) - Install

  21. Engine Wiring Harness Clip(1, 2) - Install[2x]
  22. Connect the camshaft position sensor electrical connector.(5)
  23. Electrical Connector(4)@Fuel Injection Fuel Rail - Connect
  24. Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Hose@Throttle Body - Connect - Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Hose Replacement 
  25. Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  26. Perform the scan tool learn/reset function:Control Module References .
