Circuit/System Testing
- Verify the battery cable connections are clean and tight.
- Verify Voltage is between 12.0 - 15.0 V
- If not within the specified range Refer to Battery Inspection/Test
- Go to next step: If within the specified range
- Test for less than 0.5 V between the positive battery terminal at the C1 Battery and terminal A X6 at the X50D Fuse Block - Battery as the ignition is placed in the CRANK/START position.
- If greater than 0.5 V
Replace the Positive Battery cable.
- Go to next step: If less than 0.5 V
- If greater than 0.5 V
- Test for less than 0.5 V drop between terminal A X6 at the X50A Fuse Block - Underhood and terminal A X2 or 1 X2 at the M64 Starter Motor with the ignition in the CRANK/START position.
- If greater than 0.5 V
Replace the Starter Solenoid Cable.
- Go to next step: If less than 0.5 V
- If greater than 0.5 V
- Test for less than 0.5 V drop between negative battery cable and the M64 Starter Motor Case with the ignition switch in the CRANK/START position.
- If greater than 0.5 V
Replace the Battery Negative Cable.
- Go to next step: If less than 0.5 V
- If greater than 0.5 V
- Replace the Starter.
