Circuit/System Testing

  1. Verify the battery cable connections are clean and tight.
  2. Verify Voltage is between 12.0 - 15.0 V
    • Go to next step: If within the specified range 
  3. Test for less than 0.5 V between the positive battery terminal at the C1 Battery and terminal A X6 at the X50D Fuse Block - Battery as the ignition is placed in the CRANK/START position.
    • If greater than 0.5 V 

      Replace the Positive Battery cable.

    • Go to next step: If less than 0.5 V 
  4. Test for less than 0.5 V drop between terminal A X6 at the X50A Fuse Block - Underhood and terminal A X2 or 1 X2 at the M64 Starter Motor with the ignition in the CRANK/START position.
    • If greater than 0.5 V 

      Replace the Starter Solenoid Cable.

    • Go to next step: If less than 0.5 V 
  5. Test for less than 0.5 V drop between negative battery cable and the M64 Starter Motor Case with the ignition switch in the CRANK/START position.
    • If greater than 0.5 V 

      Replace the Battery Negative Cable.

    • Go to next step: If less than 0.5 V 
  6. Replace the Starter.
