Programming an Existing or New Control Module

To program an existing or new control module, perform the following procedure:
- Install the special tool: EL-49642 SPS Programming Support Tool
- Open the Service Programming System (SPS) - Refer to: Service Programming System (SPS)
- Select: J2534 MDI
- Select: Reprogram ECU
- Select: Vehicle Data
- Select: K73 Telematics Communication Interface Control Module
- Select: Programming
- Select: Normal
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
- The SPS programming must have successfully completed before continuing.
- Open the dealer OnStar portal and navigate to the control module exchange page.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
- Press the blue OnStar button and ask the OnStar advisor to activate the OnStar subscription again.
