Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (9C1, 5W4) , or Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (KL9)
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle

    Underbody Skid Shield Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]

  4. Underbody Skid Shield (2) - Remove

    Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Bolt (1) - Remove [10x]

  6. Front Bumper Fascia Extension Bolt (2) - Remove [8x]

    Pull the front bumper fascia extension (1) rearward and down from the front bumper fascia.

    Front Bumper Fascia Extension Bolt (2) - Remove [4x]

  9. Pull the front bumper fascia extension (4) rearward and down.

    Remove the power steering assist motor wire clip (3).

  11. Remove the power steering control module wiring power harness (1) from the 2 retaining clips (2) and reposition.

    NOTE:

    Some components not shown for graphic clarity.

    Disconnect the power steering control module wiring torque sensor harness (1) from the electric belt drive rack and pinion steering gear.

    Remove the power steering assist motor wire clip (3).

  14. Disconnect the power steering control module torque sensor wiring harness (1) from the power steering assist motor.
  15. Remove the power steering control module torque sensor wiring harness clip (2) from the electric belt drive rack and pinion steering gear housing.
  16. Remove the power steering control module torque sensor wiring harness.
