Cooling System Specifications: Maintenance

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 21 other vehicles, including the 1983 Plymouth Turismo, 1983 Plymouth Scamp Pickup, 1983 Plymouth Sapporo, 1983 Plymouth Reliant, and 1983 Plymouth Horizon. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Inspect cooling system every 12 months or 15,000 miles. Drain and flush cooling system at 36 months or 52,500 miles, and every 24 months or 30,000 miles thereafter. Maintain a coolant level of 50% ethylene glycol anti-freeze and 50% water year-round.

NOTE: On FWD models, ethylene glycol base anti-freeze must contain a silicate inhibitor to retard corrosion due to the engine's aluminum components. Failure to use an anti-freeze with silicate inhibitor could cause radiator plugging and engine overheating.
