Single Module Engine Controller (SMEC)

The SMEC performs the functions formally performed by the logic module and power module. It contains a 14-pin connector and a 60-pin connector. See Fig 1 . The SMEC is a digital computer containing a microprocessor. It receives input signals from various switches and sensors. It then computes the fuel injector pulse width, spark advance, ignition coil dwell, idle speed, purge, cooling fan start and alternator charge rate. The SMEC is located on the right inner fender panel.
