Brush Holder Test

  1. When testing brushes and brush springs, make sure that brushes move smoothly in brush holder. Sticking brushes require replacement of brush holder assembly.
  2. Using an ohmmeter, touch one test lead to inner brush, and other test lead to field terminal. If there is no continuity, replace brush assembly. Using an ohmmeter, touch one test lead to outer brush and other test lead to field terminal. If there is no continuity, replace brush assembly. See Fig 1.
