Check Engine Light
The CHECK ENGINE light illuminates each time ignition switch is turned on. Light stays on for 3 seconds as a bulb test. If SBEC receives an incorrect signal or no signal from battery voltage input, charging system, Coolant Temperature Sensor (CTS), Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor, Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) or an emission related fault (California vehicles only) CHECK ENGINE light is illuminated. This warns driver that SBEC is in limp-in mode and immediate repairs are necessary. CHECK ENGINE light can also be used to display fault codes.
