TEST 89A - Compass/Temperature Module No Response

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS at the end of this article. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1 after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. If compass/temperature module display is blank, proceed to TEST 55B. If compass/temperature module display is not blank, press COMP/TEMP button one time.
  2. If compass/temperature module display is still blank, proceed to TEST 55B. If compass/temperature module display is not blank, turn ignition off. Disconnect DRB-II and compass/temperature module connector. Check connector condition and clean or repair connector as necessary.
  3. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance on CCD bus positive circuit (Violet/Brown wire) between compass/temperature module connector and data link connector.
  4. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Violet/Brown wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance on CCD bus negative circuit (White/Black wire) between compass/temperature module connector and data link connector.
  5. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open White/Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace compass/temperature module.
