Programming RKE Transmitter Without Scan Tool

  1. Ensure ignition is off. Using a jumper wire, ground 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC), terminal No. 1, or connect jumper wire between 16-pin DLC connector terminals No. 1 and 4. See Fig 1 . DLCs are located under instrument panel, to right of steering column.

  2. Close both doors. Turn ignition switch to ACC position, then turn back to LOCK position. Press any transmitter button 3 times within 10 seconds. Door will lock and unlock once. If programming a second transmitter, press any button 3 times on second transmitter within one minute of programming first transmitter. Door will again lock and unlock once.
  3. Programming mode will be cancelled under one of the following conditions:
    • Programming of 2 transmitters is completed.
    • One minute has passed since programming was completed.
    • Jumper wire is disconnected.
    • Ignition is turned off.
    • Any door is opened.
