42LE Transmission Verification Test VER-1
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Reconnect any disconnected components. Erase all transmission related DTCs.
- Display transmission temperature on scan tool. Start engine and run until transmission temperature is greater than 110°F (43.3°C). Check fluid level and add fluid if necessary. When using scan tool, if transmission or torque converter was replaced, it is necessary to perform the quick learn procedure. Go to next step. If using generic scan tool, go to step 5.
- Road test vehicle and monitor engine RPM. Make 15 to 20 1-2, 2-3 and 3-4 upshifts from a standing start to 45 MPH (72 km/h) with throttle at a constant 20-25 degree opening.
- Slow to less than 25 MPH (40 km/h) and make 5-8 wide open throttle kickdowns from second and third gear, to first gear. Allow at least 5 seconds between each kickdown.
- For a specific DTC, drive vehicle and attempt to recreate condition as when DTC was set to verify repair.
- Check for DTCs during road test. If any DTC sets, go to appropriate diagnosis and repair procedure under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS . Go to step 1.
