Fuse Blows When Washer Switch Is Depressed

  1. Check for short in wiper/washer switch. See WIPER/WASHER SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS.
  2. Disconnect wiper motor and washer motor connectors. Using DVOM, measure resistance between wiper/washer switch connector terminal No. 2 (Brown wire) and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Brown wire. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect washer pump motor connector. Using DVOM, check resistance between washer motor terminals No. 1 and 2. If continuity is indicated, replace washer pump motor. See WASHER PUMP MOTOR & SENSOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
