Component Tests: Relays
NOTE:
Door lock, door unlock and driver door unlock relays are located in junction block. See Fig 1
. Junction block is located at lower left end of instrument panel.
- Remove suspect relay from vehicle. Using an ohmmeter, check for continuity between relay terminals "A" and "E". See Fig 2 . If continuity does not exist, replace relay. If continuity exists, go to next step.
- Check for continuity between relay terminals "A" and "D". If continuity exists, replace relay. If continuity does not exist, check resistance between relay terminals "B" and "C". If resistance is not 70-80 ohms, replace relay. If resistance is 70-80 ohms, go to next step.
- Using jumper wires, connect positive battery voltage to relay terminal "C" and ground to relay terminal "B". Continuity should exist between terminals "A" and "D". Continuity should not exist between relay terminals "E" and "A". If continuity is not as specified, replace relay. If continuity is as specified, relay is okay.
