Description & Operation: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Concorde, and 2002 Chrysler 300M. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING: Dust and dirt accumulating on brake parts during normal use may contain asbestos fibers from production or aftermarket linings. Breathing excessive concentrations of asbestos fibers can cause serious bodily harm. Exercise care when servicing brake parts. DO NOT clean brake parts with compressed air or by dry bushing. Use a vacuum cleaner specifically designed for the removal of asbestos from brake components. If a suitable vacuum cleaner is not available, cleaning should be done with a water dampened cloth. DO NOT sand, or grind brake lining unless equipment used is designed to contain dust residue. Dispose of all residue containing asbestos fibers in sealed bags or containers to minimize exposure to yourself and others. Follow practices prescribed by the occupational safety and health administration and the environmental protection agency for the handling, processing, and disposition of dust or debris that may contain asbestos fibers.
WARNING: Brake fluid will damage painted surfaces. If brake fluid is spilled on any painted surfaces, wash it off with water.
CAUTION: Use only Mopar(R) brake fluid or any equivalent from a tightly sealed container. Brake fluid must conform to DOT 3 specifications. DO NOT use gasoline, kerosene, alcohol, motor oil, transmission fluid, or any fluid containing mineral oil to clean system components. These fluids damage rubber caps and seals.
CAUTION: If the vehicle is equipped with the Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPM) System, the tire/wheel assembly needs to be reinstalled in the same location it is removed from or the TPM (sensors) will need to be retrained. Mark each tire/wheel assembly indicating location, prior to its removal. If the tire/wheel assemblies are switched, rotated or replaced, the TPM system needs to be retrained. To retrain the TPM, see TIRE SENSOR RELEARN PROCEDURE under PROGRAMMING in OVERHEAD CONSOLES article in ANALOG GAUGES & INSTRUMENT PANELS in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
NOTE: For more information on Mark 20i Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), see appropriate ANTI-LOCK article in BRAKES.
