Minimum Airflow Check
- Warm engine until coolant temperature is at least 176°F (80°C). Turn engine off. Disconnect PCV hose from intake manifold. Connect Air Metering Fitting (6457 ) to intake manifold nipple.
- Disconnect 3/16" idle purge line from throttle body nipple. Cap throttle body nipple. Connect scan tool to DLC. Start engine and let idle for one minute. Ensure all accessories are turned off.
- Using scan tool, access ACTUATOR TEST and MINIMUM AIRFLOW IDLE SPEED. At this time, IAC motor will fully close, idle spark advance will be fixed and scan tool will display engine speed (RPM).
- Engine RPM should be 500-1100 RPM (450-1100 RPM for vehicles with less than 1000 miles). If engine RPM is as specified, minimum airflow is correct. If engine speed is not as specified, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, access SPECIAL FUNCTION and select RESET IAC. Repeat step 3 . If engine speed is more than specification, use scan tool to check IAC motor operation. If IAC motor is okay, replace throttle body and reset IAC.
- If engine speed is less than specification, turn engine off. Remove throttle body and clean. Reinstall throttle body. Repeat steps 1 - 4 . If engine speed is still not within specification, problem is not caused by throttle body.
