Ignition Switch Test

WARNING: All models are equipped with Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). To avoid injury from accidental air bag deployment, read and carefully follow all WARNINGS and SERVICE PRECAUTIONS. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. Failure to do so could result in accidental deployment of air bags and possible personal injury.
  1. Disable air bag. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. Remove instrument cluster undercover. Remove steering column covers to locate ignition switch 6-pin connector. Disconnect ignition switch 6-pin connector.
  2. Place ignition switch in ON position. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between switch terminal No. 1 (White wire) and terminals No. 2 (Black/White wire), No. 4 (Blue/Black wire) and No. 6 (Blue wire). If continuity is not present, replace ignition switch.
