ABS Warning Light
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST
under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- If any Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) diagnostic trouble codes are present, repair before continuing with this test. See appropriate ANTI-LOCK article in BRAKES. Turn ignition on. Observe ABS warning light in information center. If ABS warning light stays on for several seconds and then goes out, warning light system is functioning properly at this time. Fault may be intermittent. If ABS warning light does not stay on for several seconds and then go out, go to next step.
- Observe ABS warning light in information center. If ABS warning light is on steady, go to next step. If ABS warning light is not on steady, go to step 7 .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connectors. BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure . Inspect connector for damaged, pushed out or crossed terminals. Repair as necessary. If terminals are okay, go to next step.
- Disconnect Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB) module connector. CAB module is located on right side of engine compartment and has a Black 25-pin connector. Inspect connector for damaged, pushed out or crossed terminals. Repair as necessary. If terminals are okay, go to next step.
- Close connector release on CAB module connector. DO NOT reconnect connector. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 16 (Light Green/Orange wire) at CAB module connector. See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Green/Orange wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step.
- Reconnect CAB module connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear all DTCs. Observe ABS warning light. If ABS warning light is on steady, replace CAB module. If ABS warning light is not on steady, replace BCM.
- Turn ignition on. Set park brake. If Red brake warning light is on, go to next step. If Red brake warning light is off, repair open in Brown/Pink wire between information center and fuse No. 6 in junction block.
- Turn ignition off. Inspect ABS warning light bulb in information center. Replace bulb as necessary. If bulb is okay, repair open in Light Green/Orange wire between information center and CAB module or BCM.
