Powertrain Verification Test VER-5
NOTE:
If PCM has been replaced, and correct VIN and mileage have not been programmed, a DTC will be set in ABS and air bag modules. If vehicle is equipped with Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM), secret key data must be updated to enable starting. Program vehicle-specific modules. See PROGRAMMING in
BODY CONTROL MODULES - CONCORDE, INTREPID, LHS & 300M article.
- Turn ignition off. Reconnect all disconnected components and connectors. Ensure all engine components are properly connected, grounded and installed.
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC) and erase DTCs from all modules. For ABS and air bag systems, enter correct VIN and mileage in PCM.
- To verify an OBD-II DTC repair, go to step 5 .
- Ensure fuel tank is at least 1/4 full. Turn all accessories off. Turn ignition off, and wait 10 seconds. Start engine and allow it to run for 2 minutes. Using scan tool, retrieve DTCs. If GOOD TRIP counter changes to one or more, repair is complete. If repaired DTC resets, repair is not complete. Check for related TSBs. If no TSB applies, return to SPEED CONTROL INOPERATIVE under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If any other DTC sets, go to appropriate diagnostic procedure under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS .
- Ensure fuel tank is at least 1/4 full. Turn all accessories off. Turn ignition off. Using scan tool, monitor appropriate pre-test enabling conditions until all conditions have been met. Once conditions are met, switch scan tool to appropriate monitor. If GOOD TRIP counter changes to one or more and there are no new DTCs, repair is complete. If GOOD TRIP counter does not change to one or more or repaired DTC resets, repair is not complete. Go to next step.
- Check for related TSBs. If no TSB applies, return to SPEED CONTROL INOPERATIVE under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If any other DTC sets, go to appropriate diagnostic procedure under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS .
NOTE:
A component DTC will require 2 minutes of engine run time without any DTCs for PCM to register a GOOD TRIP count on scan tool display.
NOTE:
To verify an OBD-II DTC repair, PCM must run appropriate monitor(s) and register a GOOD TRIP. PCM requires 2 minutes of engine run time without any DTCs for to register a GOOD TRIP count on scan tool display.
