Section 1 (Charging System - Generators & Regulators): Description
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 13 other vehicles, including the 2000 Plymouth Neon, 2000 Plymouth Breeze, 2000 Dodge Stratus, 2000 Dodge Neon, and 2000 Dodge Intrepid. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
All models use either a Melco or Nippondenso generator. The generator contains a rotor, stator, rectifiers, front and rear covers and drive pulley. Generator is serviced as a complete unit only. Voltage regulation is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Electronic Voltage Regulator (EVR) is not a separate component, but a circuit located within the PCM. If EVR circuit is defective, PCM must be replaced.
