PCM Messages Not Received

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC) located under left side of instrument panel. See Figure . Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, erase DTCs. Cycle ignition off and on and wait about one minute. Using scan tool, check for DTCs. If DTC does not reset, check all connectors and harnesses for intermittent problems. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If DTC resets, go to next step.
  2. Using scan tool, select BODY COMPUTER, SYSTEM TESTS then PCM MONITOR. If scan tool displays PCM ACTIVE ON BUS, replace Body Control Module (BCM). See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If scan tool does not display PCM ACTIVE ON BUS, go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool, attempt to communicate with Powertrain Control Module (PCM). If scan tool does not communicate with PCM, go to NO RESPONSE FROM PCM (PCI BUS)  . If scan tool communicates with PCM, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM C2 Gray connector. PCM is located on left side of engine compartment. See Figure . Using Scope Input Cable (CH7058), Cable-To-Probe Adapter (CH7062), and Red and Black test leads, connect scope input cable to channel one connector. Attach Red and Black leads and cable-to-probe adapter to scope input cable. Using DRBIII(R), select PEP MODULE TOOLS, LAB SCOPE, LIVE DATA, then 12-VOLT SQUARE WAVE. Press F2 for SCOPE and ENTER to select channel. Press F2 to set voltage range to 20-volts. Press F2 again when complete. Connect Black lead to ground. Connect Red lead to terminal No. 59 (Orange wire) at PCM C2 harness connector. See Figure . Turn ignition on. Observe voltage display on lab scope. Voltage should pulse between zero and 7.5-volts. If voltage is as specified, replace PCM. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step.
  5. Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM C3 White 16-pin connector. BCM is connected to junction block under left side of instrument panel. Measure resistance of Orange wire between terminals No. 1 at BCM C3 harness connector and No. 56 at PCM C2 harness connector. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Orange wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace BCM.
