Wiper Park Switch Open Circuit
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST
under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC) located under left side of instrument panel. See Figure . Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, record and erase DTCs. Turn on front wipers. Using scan tool, check for DTCs. If DTC does not reset, no problem is indicated at this time. Perform wiggle test on all related connectors and wiring harnesses. Repair wiring as necessary and retest system. If DTC resets, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM C3 White 16-pin connector. BCM is connected to junction block under left side of instrument panel. Connect a jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 4 (Tan/Red wire) at BCM C3 harness connector. See Figure . Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, monitor WIPER PARK SENSE CIRCUIT status. If scan tool displays WIPER PARK SWITCH: CLOSED, repair open in Tan/Red wire between BCM and front wiper motor. If scan tool does not display WIPER PARK SWITCH: CLOSED, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect wiper motor connector. Remove BCM from junction block. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 6 (Violet/Pink wire) at BCM C3 harness connector. If any voltage is present, repair short to voltage in Violet/Pink wire. If no voltage is present, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Reinstall BCM and reconnect all BCM connectors. Ensure wiper motor is disconnected. Using scan tool, observe WIPER PARK SWITCH status. Connect a jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 1 (Tan/Red wire) at wiper motor harness connector. If scan tool displays WIPER PARK SWITCH: CLOSED, replace wiper motor. If scan tool displays WIPER PARK SWITCH: OPEN, replace BCM.
