Piston & Rod Assembly

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Pistons are available in 2 weight specifications and are matched to rods based on weight. All piston and rod assemblies are weight matched for balance and are serviced as an assembly only. DO NOT switch pistons with other rods.
  2. Piston pin is full floating and is held in place by lock rings. No. 2 main bearing is thrust washer location. Pistons are not interchangeable from bank to bank. To prevent engine damage, DO NOT damage fractured connecting rod and cap joint face surfaces.
  3. Connecting rod bearings are not interchangeable. Ensure rod and bearing cap is marked with cylinder number before removal. If numerical marking does not exist on rod and bearing cap, mark rod and bearing cap as necessary. Note direction of connecting rod installation on piston before removal. Connecting rod must be installed in original direction. After removing piston from engine block, reinstall bearing cap onto connecting rod.
NOTE: Piston diameter should be measured at normal room temperature of 70°F (21°C).
