Automatic Rolling Door Lock Problem

NOTE: This testing only applies to models with vehicle theft security system.
NOTE: Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS after each repair.

Possible Causes:

  1. Auto Door Locks Not Enabled
  2. Scan Tool Read Auxiliary Door Ajar
  3. Scan Tool Read DR DOOR Ajar
  4. Scan Tool Read Passenger Door Ajar
  5. PCM DTC's Present
  6. PCM Active On Bus
  7. Doors Lock At 20 MPH
  8. Central Timer Module

Testing

  1. Using scan tool, select CUSTOMER PREFERENCES, then read ROLLING DOOR LOCK status. If scan tool displays ROLLING DOOR LOCK ENABLED, go to next step. If scan tool does not display ROLLING DOOR LOCK ENABLED, use scan tool to enable rolling door locks. Retest system.
  2. Ensure all doors are closed. Using scan tool, read AUXILIARY DOOR AJAR status. If scan tool does not display AUXILIARY DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool displays AUXILIARY DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, perform AUXILIARY DOOR SWITCH CIRCUIT (SIDE OR REAR) SHORTED TO GROUND  test under DOOR AJAR SYSTEM.
  3. Ensure all doors are closed. Using scan tool, read DR DOOR AJAR SW status. If scan tool does not display DR DOOR AJAR SW: CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool displays DR DOOR AJAR SW: CLOSED, perform SHORTED DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AJAR CIRCUIT  test under DOOR AJAR SYSTEM.
  4. Ensure all doors are closed. Using scan tool, read PASS DOOR AJAR SW status. If scan tool does not display PASS DOOR AJAR SW: CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool displays PASS DOOR AJAR SW: CLOSED, perform PASSENGER'S SIDE DOOR AJAR CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND  under DOOR AJAR SYSTEM.
  5. Using scan tool, read ENGINE DTCs. If no TP sensor or VSS DTCs are present, go to next step. If any Throttle Position (TP) sensor or Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) DTCs are present, see corresponding tests in appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
  6. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, select SYSTEM TEST. Read PCM MONITOR status. If scan tool displays, POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE: ACTIVE ON BUS, go to next step. If scan tool does not display, POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE: ACTIVE ON BUS, perform NO RESPONSE FROM PCM (CCD)  test under COMMUNICATIONS.
  7. Raise and support vehicle with drive wheels at least one foot off floor. Ensure all doors are closed and unlocked. Start engine and place gear selector in Drive. Increase vehicle speed to 20 MPH. If doors lock automatically when vehicle speed reaches 20 MPH, system is currently functioning properly. If doors do not lock automatically when vehicle speed reaches 20 MPH, replace CTM. See CENTRAL TIMER MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
