Scan Tool Blank Screen

NOTE:
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST
under VERIFICATION TESTS after each repair.
Possible Causes:
- Open Ground Circuit At DLC Cavity No. 5
- Open Ground Circuit At DLC Cavity No. 4
- Open Fused B+ Circuit
- Scan Tool Cable
- Scan Tool
Testing
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect scan tool from DLC. Using a DVOM, measure resistance between ground and DLC terminal No. 5 (Black/Violet wire). See Figure . If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open or high resistance in Black/Violet wire between DLC and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using a DVOM, measure resistance between ground and DLC terminal No. 4 (Black/Tan wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open or high resistance in Black/Tan wire between DLC and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using a DVOM, measure voltage between ground and DLC terminal No. 16 (Violet wire). If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Violet wire between DLC and fuse block. If battery voltage is present, go to next step.
- Install scan tool using a different scan tool cable. If scan tool is operational, replace original scan tool cable. If scan tool screen is still blank, go to next step.
- Install a known-good scan tool. If scan tool is operational, repair or replace original scan tool. If scan tool screen is still blank, refer to scan tool manufacturer's operating manual for further instructions.
