Theft Alarm Will Not Arm

NOTE:
Perform VTSS VERIFICATION TEST
under VERIFICATION TESTS after each repair.
Possible Causes:
- VTSS Not Enabled
- PCM 20 Start Ups Not Seen
- PCM Not Active
- CTM VTSS Will Not Enable
Testing
- Using scan tool, select THEFT ALARM, VTSS, MISCELLANEOUS, then read ALARM status. If scan tool displays ALARM: ENABLED, go to next step. If scan tool does not display ALARM: ENABLED, use scan tool to enable alarm and retest system.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select THEFT ALARM, VTSS, MONITOR DISPLAY then read ENGINE CONTROLLER status. If scan tool displays OK TO RUN ENGINE, go to step 4 . If scan tool displays NOT OKAY TO RUN ENGINE, go to next step.
- Start and turn off engine 20 times. Using scan tool, select THEFT ALARM, VTSS, MONITOR DISPLAY then read ENGINE CONTROLLER status. If scan tool displays OKAY TO RUN ENGINE, go to next step. If scan still displays NOT OKAY TO RUN ENGINE, replace powertrain control module.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select THEFT ALARM, VTSS, MONITOR DISPLAY then read ENGINE CONTROLLER status. If scan tool displays ACTIVE ON THE BUS, go to next step. If scan tool does not display ACTIVE ON THE BUS, go to NO RESPONSE FROM PCM (CCD) test under COMMUNICATIONS.
- Using scan tool, attempt to enable VTSS. If scan tool enables VTSS, test is complete. If scan tool does not enable VTSS, replace central timer module.
